Happy Birthday

I don't know  how much parents  will like this book as  it might  drive  them crazy but I know children will love  pressing the  button over  and over again. I  gave  it to a little  two year old for his  birthday and he walks  around the  house  singing " happy birthday " in his own cute  voice.  As you can tell this book is  all about  the  wondrous things  called  a birthday.  I got it  early to preview  for you all. It  comes  out  at  the  end of  August  I think the  23rd. Two to five  year olds  will love  this  7  by 8 inch sturdy board  book. 16 pages  at a good reasonable price  $12.99.  look for  it on amazon.

Michelle  Adams  knows kids  well having  two her  self. The art  work is fun and done by Sandra  Rodriguz who uses  watercolor.

This book will be a treasured volume  to read  each birthday.

Kids Bible

A very good  Bible  for  children.

My First Hands-On Bible  is a wonderful book full of  hands on activities that bring the  Bible  alive. Use it  at  home or in Sunday schools for great lessons geared towards children 3-6 years of age.  This Bible uses scriptures to tell the stories  not some one else writing their own  words based on Gods holy scriptures. Very interesting  how  at the end of each chapter  their is a question or  a note pointing out  how  Jesus is to be  found in all the stories  even if  he is  not  mentioned.

Each story is a perfect length 3-5  pages so that  children do not get board but actually want to read  more.  The activities really help the  children  know the stories.

I got this book from Tyndale to review.

A true story

This is an awesome  read for the  most part.  I read  it not because I am a sports  fan but  because  I wanted  to see how life in the  1970's really was like.  wow was I in for a  surprise,  I knew  so little  about this  time and how poorly black people were treated.   In this  chapter book we see how friendships  change a town.  One will follow two boys  life  story  as they grow up with  a fond love for basket ball. Not: some of the  romance I did  not think was necessary in this story.  I found it filled up pages for  nothing. This  story shows  a black boy and a white boy, taught  to hate each other who cross he boundaries because of basketball.

In the  end I felt  like I learned bout the  segregation blacks felt ( at that  time they still had their own parks, sides of streets and stores), and actually understood basketball for the  first time. Because of this book I now want to be at a game.  Ken Abraham has done a fantastic  job!

I received this book free from the publishers and was not required to write a positive review.

Look Inside the Time of Jesus A Lift-the-Flap Discovery Book

This is a perfect book for  3- 5 year old children!  Very engaging wit many lift the flap pictures. The colors with which this book is illustrated are bright and cheerful, perfect for little eyes. Your child will want to read this book over and over again, and it is a good idea for keeping your little one occupied during church!

The illustrations are cute and colorful, and the lift-the-flap appeal will draw young children to want to have this one read to them again and again. I like the way that the account of Jesus’ life is integrated with the scenes of life in that time so that kids are learning not only about the life of Christ but also a little about the time period and culture. Older children can read the book for themselves and can spend time reading the flaps and exploring a little more.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest review by Kregel publications, but I have shared my own thoughts and opinions, I was not required to write a favorable review.

A 1767 reprint

THE CHARLESTON BAPTIST CATECHISM OF 1767

The Charleston Baptist Catechism of 1767 adapted by the Charles association of Baptist Churches in Charleston S. C. in 1767

This is well worth owning and learning the doctrines by heart no matter what age the members of your household are, as the questions as well as answers are concise.

Each point has a brief well-worded explanation to the question with a few verses listed, being just the right amount to prove the answer is Biblical.

An example  is as follows 1) Who is the first and chiefest being .
A God is the first ( a) and chifest being( b).
a)     Isaiah 44:6 (b) Psalm 97:9

Starting with questions to do with God they follow with ones dealing with sin, how God saved us, sum of the ten commandments, Baptism, Lords Supper, what is prayer and concluding with the meaning of the Lords prayer.

Having each child memorize the 114 questions in the 19 pages of this booklet will change and challenge each one to think more about God as well as give an answer. Parents will impart  their young ones  a solid foundation, something  that is worth more then anything else they could bestow upon the.

This is a needed asset to the spiritual life for older children to use on their own, families to do together or younger children to memorize.  Order at http://www.biblicalandsouthernstudies.com/?page=shop/flypage&product_id=22&keyword=Catechism&searchby=description&offset=0&fs=1 for under $3!

To cute for words

9780804185196

I love the idea behind this book but as one reviewer stated gluing on eyes can be dangerous for kids. These hats should only be worn when an adult is around.  Nancy Neilsen's GRAMMA NANCY'S ANIMAL HATS is not only a pattern book for hats but also booties. I really anted to use this book and thought it was for knitting but it is not but for crocheting. I will have to save this book and defiantly lean this new art. Haply some can be made by knitting so my sisters and I will do these!

I love the concept behind this book!Knit up the cutest little animal hats and booties, including a pair of elephants, a cheeky monkey, and an adorable bunny hat with matching paws.  Actually it was the front that caught my eye since I love chickens. This would make perfect kids for mothers expecting !The book features matching booties and animal hats to make for a newborn or infant. Hard to read

It was written in a way, that is a little difficult for a real child to understand. I would recommend it for children around the age of  teens but  they wont love the book, I  read it as an adult and got the message right way " work hard, don't let the government give you free things." But then I passed it on to my 7 1/2   and 11 1/2  year old sisters and they had to read it several times  before understanding it. The 8 year old even had to have the story explained to her. She did love the cute drawing of  turtle land!

.The story is a touching, but compelling one in that it tells the story of Ippy Tippy Town, a town that is full of Wanna Workers that are just trying to survive in a town full of other turtles that aren't so ready to go out and work. I think this would be a good book for teachers or parents to read ti kids and explain but don't just pass it on to kids and think they will quickly grasp the message! check it out http://www.lifesentencepublishing.com/trouble-in-ippy-tippy-town-blog-tour-page/

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Life Sentence Publishing
