I am into healthy eating and found this book to be not only full of recipes but also information which I really found quite helpful! The pictures are beautiful and some of the recipes can be found on line!

Check out kale and sweet potato saute and  charred brussels sprouts with pancetta and fig glaze!http://www.scribd.com/doc/214301702/Brassicas-by-Laura-B-Russell-Recipes

I made two of the recipes so far but  will be making many more. I knew how to saute  and steam the greens but never know that kale could be eaten raw to get more vitamins! Thus I made a yummy salad  Smoky Kale  salad with toasted almonds and egg!

In the end if you love this cook book you will want to follow the others blog! Find plenty of recipes!!  http://www.laurabrussell.com/recipes/

Love this poem book!

That’s What Friends Are For by Jan Miller Girando
When life’s being lived at hurry-up pace
With hectic things happening all over the place,
A friend understands and allows us our space…
That’s what friends are for.
When we’re feeling grumpy and scowly and cross,
And not quite succeeding at being the boss,
A friend cheers us up so the day’s not a loss…
That’s what friends are for.
And when there’s excitement and joy in the air,
Occasions to celebrate, good news to share,
There’s one you can count on to always be there…
That’s what friends are for.
They give us advice that we’d do well to heed,
Gently suggest the “fine tuning” we need,
Then join in our happiness when we succeed…
That’s what friends are for.
We’ll always be friends as we have from the start,
And when we’re together or when we’re apart,
Our friendships will always be close to my heart…
That’s what friends are for.

This is just one of the many poems in this volume!

A kids story!

Of Feathers and Friends - Blog Tour Page

I had a hard time getting into this book. I tried over and over too! Actually my fifth try  was a lot better and I could say I enjoyed a little of it!
Some tips were fun but would not apply to most readers.  I think Christian school kids or public school can really relate to this book! There were many other issues with the book!

This book was not what I expected it to be and I frequently wondered where it was headed It was the front that caught my attention but i could not get into it.These stories were full of pain, and were heart-wrenching and even horrific in nature and caused me to wonder is the world all bad. I thought this would be a good child's story book but it had nothing really to do with birds that much. Oh yes it was in there but enough to really make the title stand out. . It was more like a book that shows all peoples lives will go bad, it is just that way! There were a lot of why’s with no answers. |Not worth reading http://www.lifesentencepublishing.com/of-feathers-and-friends-blog-tour/

Healed!

This book was right on track with the  doctrinal beliefs ! This is  book full of truths! In  chapter two he talks about healing begins with God! This is not a book where the the main  message is life is good for Christians but that God is good and life is  full of hard lessons.  He spent many years in illness and then turned away from God but  in  the Lords kindness full of his mercy he was draw  him back to the healing fount! Life is not our boundary but the Bible is!There is no easy answer as Scott points out, but Christ’s promises to be with us and guide us are no less true when we go through great turmoil. Trials bring opportunities to see God wonderful hand in our lives.

Then in chapter 3 we take  a look at what people think of miracles, Most often they want them performed on their lives for selfish reasons! I loved how he points out that a life of pain does not mean the person has  fled from God. Trials can be a good thing!

Do read a book filled with hope!

Reaching Mormins

STARTING AT THE FINISH LINE has a subtitle; The Gospel Of Grace For Mormons. John B.

Wallace begins with an explanation of the Law of God, showing us our condemnation under the law for our disobedience and sin. I found this book insightful as I had done a little research on this  religion! If one ever encounters such people, ( there are a lot of them performing in Branson), one has to know how to reach them!

Wallace grew up an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints—thus he was a Mormon, so he can really reach us how to reach a hurting people!
Wallace was a Mormon for twenty years and many of his family are still so, thus we can see where his heart is burdened!.  In this volume he points out all the errors in the thinking of these people. He no longer believes Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, because as he points out a prophet is not a prophet unless all the prophecies come true!
. He shares how being good , can never bring us salvation.
I highly recommend this book.

No place to Hide- A book about War

No Place to HideA Brain Surgeon’s Long Journey Home from the Iraq War

By W. Lee Warren

This book opened my eyes and took me to the front line of the war! before I continue I msut point out this is adult content , especially some of the pictures of surgery! All this said I did enjoy this volume and you will too.   This is a true story that was very touching! He offers a unique perspective into the war in Iraq by giving us a doctor’s viewpoint .

The only thing in this book that made me mad was his divorce. The rest of the book touched me in a deep way! Apart from this  this is a very interesting account of the war! learn about his life in a totally different world , that most of us Lord willing will never face but that we should know about to appreciate all the sacrifices!Told in the first person from journals kept during the deployment and including the adjustment upon arriving home, this book is a great read. Do read if you can!

Saving life!

cid:image003.png@01CF8ACB.D1EB32C0

I was really impressed with this book. it opened up a new way of thinking  about  young women who conduct abortions. Sheila shows you her heart as you follow her journey from age 17 onward. She naturally  touches mothers hearts with the opening chapter of this  book as she describes the joys of being a first time mother!

Once I began reading, I could not put it down until I had finished this book, because I cried and laughed all the way along.  The honesty from the author shows how mistakes can change lives if you don't know the truth. It is  a well written book and enables an understanding of what goes through a young girl's mind when facing a huge problem on her own about an unexpected pregnancy. It is a story of struggle with secret guilt over a misinformed decision- not knowing at age 17 that life begins from day 1 of the baby being in the womb, forgiveness over and over, and finally acceptance of God's forgiveness and grace. Now the author is sharing this story so others won't murder their kids.

The only negative thing I have to say about this book is the length. It would be great as a shorter book so it could be passed out to those considering abortion because if they read it  this wonderful moving book might change their life.  I trust some day the author will revise her book so it can be passed out to millions. as a shorter tract it would be great to give out at abortion clinics!
