Devotinal

When I received this book from the publisher, I was immediately delighted on account of the  qualities of this lovely book!  I loved the front- I am a southern and sweet tea fan!   This would  make a great book to read a chapter each night.  These  chapters are short but give you a little to think upon while you fall a sleep.  I thought the loveliness of the design quite fitting with the treasures contained on the pages within!  I fell in love with this  read by a southern girl.  After each chapter there is a page of questions.  I think think this would also make a good book to read over lunch hour while at work.   This book are compiled and organized to bring wisdom and peace to the reader. . ! I encourage you to read each chapter carefully and dwell on each portion. Also, don't skip over the application questions which conclude each devotion. Let the Lord use this book in your life to bring you closer to Him!

From my first look at this delightful little book, I knew that it would be my devotional for the upcoming year. I look forward to learning from these chapters through 2015!
She starts with a single Bible verse to introduce her devotion and ends with suggested scripture readings and thought-provoking journaling questions to keep her readers thinking about the devotion and growing in God's Word.

Wow!!!!! From the Dark to the Dawn: A Tale of Ancient Rome

From the Dark to the Dawn: A Tale of Ancient Rome

My praise for this book are not high enough . This is one christen teenagers fiction which is worth reading, Actually it is also good for adults  too. I was so impressed with the writing style of this thriller. This would be a great read for a home schooling family studying Rome. I highly recommenced it for boys. This will get your non reader to read! This is not your normal christen fiction  where God is just thrown in a few inappropriate  parts. The christen faith and lal that pertains to  God is the life of the story. One can not extract it from the book or there will be nothing to this read. It is not like other books where if you took God out you could have a fine book.  You feel that God is the authors life. Some day Lord willing I want to own all her books!

From the Dark to the Dawn

Decadent Rome, 61 Anno Domini. The masters of the universe have crushed the Iceni rebellion with an iron hand, slaughtering and enslaving her people.

For Philip, his existence as a captive means living to hatred. He despises his rich, young master, resenting his life of servitude and the wrestling feats Marcus forces him to perform. Bitterness engulfs his soul until he only lives for the day when he will crush the might of Rome.

Then Christianity enters the picture. Taught by a Jewish breadmaker to know the man called Christus, Philip begins the struggle to forgive and honor his master. But forgiveness is not easy towards one who lives for himself.

Marcus Virginius knows nothing but power and pleasure. Destined to a successful career serving Nero in the Praetorian Guard, he wants no part of Christianity. And he is determined to crush Philip’s newfound faith – no matter what it takes.

Join Philip and Marcus in their journey of redemption, faith, and forgiveness. Is love enough to conquer hate? And will the light of the gospel ever surmount the darkness of Rome?

Persecution abounds – will the two young men survive its terrors and live to experience the bright hope of a new dawn?
On From the Dark to the Dawn:

"Alicia Willis transports readers back to the troubled clash between the crushing might of Imperial Rome and the vengeful determination of the Celtic occupants of ancient Britain. From the Dark to the Dawn: A Tale of Ancient Rome will delight readers of historical fiction."

Every Bride Needs a Groom by Janice Thompson

Along with grace of God staying with Katie all along, she enters a fairy tale life. This is also a new series by Janice Thompson, A Brides with Style Novel. I bet you can’t put the book down until it’s finished. I thought it flowed well but  after one read I know i would never pick it up again.Personally, I was intrigued by the deep message which was the spine of this romance. It is rare that you find a romance, even a Christian one which has such a life-changing message as this one. The author does a wonderful job of teaching that we have no control over our lives. I stayed up late to finish this book in two nights.I will add, however that it is for adults. And the end isn't spectacular. But I see the author's point. She did a good job finishing everything up.

I was pleased to receive this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

French girls novel

The Creole Princess (Gulf Coast Chronicles, #2)

Wow! I get to be the first to review this book on good reads . It has yet to be on sale on Amazon. It  was a very good read compared to some books I read. Also she is french. It is a historical romance but not as bad as others. It will be on sale  in about a week.

All along the eastern seaboard, the American struggle for independence rages. In the British-held southern port of Mobile, Alabama, the conflict brewing is quieter--though no less deadly. The lovely Frenchwoman Lyse Lanier is best friends with the daughter of the British commander. Rafael Gonzalez is a charming young Spanish merchant with a secret mission and a shipment of gold to support General Washington. As their paths cross and their destinies become increasingly tangled, Lyse and Rafael must decide where their true loyalties lie--and somehow keep Lyse's family from being executed as traitors to the British Crown.

With spectacular detail that brings the Colonial South alive, Beth White invites readers into a world of intrigue and espionage from a little-known side of the American Revolutionary War. Her richly textured settings and characters delight while fast pacing and closely held secrets will keep readers turning the pages
 (less)

Now comes my personal opinion of the book. To be honest, I did not think it spectacular. The story was weak. I couldn't sympathize with the heroine, and I felt like the whole book was a waste of time since it starts with the couple's relationship being broken, but almost straightaway they come into contact with eachother. In one way, that is realistic since they lived in a close-knit Amish community.
I think the author made a serious blunder in the substories included in this book. This book just lacked point. The main characters do learn lessons about pride and such but they are vague lessons which don't stick with the reader after she has finished the book.

I was given a free copy of this book by the publisher and expected to state my honest opinion, whether positive or negative.

Pure food

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have always been passionate about feeding my family the best foods, but as a busy working mom with three kids, cooking can be overwhelming. I know that fast food and frozen options are not the solution. I wrote Pure Food to inspire people to get back in the kitchen. Cooking doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming. It can be simple, therapeutic and rewarding too!
The 120 plant-based recipes in Pure Food are modern, healthier versions of my Midwestern favorites passed down from my grandma and mom. I talk about how to cook with alternatives to processed sugars, dairy and flours, and I’ve created recipes that use unique and interesting ingredients like amaranth, coconut flour, tapioca, and turmeric. I’ve included some of my personal tips for cleaning your kitchen and lifestyle – from drying your own herbs to eliminating chemical cleaners.
I’m so excited that the dream of creating my own cookbook has become a reality and I can’t wait to share my journey with you and your family – Veronica

The recipes are printed on attractive green-highlighted pages, while the photographs of some of the recipes can be found in the center portion of the book.  I was disappointed  that there were not more pictures.

I was drawn to this book because of the authors  food company. The author, Veronica Bosgraaf, is the founder of the Pure Bar, organic nut bars and fruit snacks. The beautiful cover of this paperback cookbook is so appealing. If you want to eat clean, whole foods this is the cookbook is for you! It is beautifully laid out with recipes each month using seasonal ingredients. Each recipe is simple, easy to follow and the final product is something I would order at a restaurant. It is full of personality and tips and tricks for everyday healthy living and eating. I look forward to using this book!

wow! Wonderful read

Displaying image003.png

A grand read which my sisters are now reading! Author Stice does a magnificent job of explaining recent past events of the implications and definition of the "Arab Spring" within the Middle East. This book  is for older readers since there is some deep material in this book but it one you will never pit down.  I highly recommend this book. It makes us look at the news in an entirely different light.

I have sensed for many years that the AntiChrist will come out of a Muslim country along with a one world government, religion and money system, it's good to know there are others who have sensed the same and are willing to write bout it. we need to stop feeling sorry for Muslims but love them enough to tell them the gospel.http://anekopress.com/arab-spring-christian-winter-blog-tour/

Hope

A book always has more power when the author who creates it has a story.   Helo did a great job telling her story! She is all about God's glory and helping you, the reader.  I was very impressed with how touched I was with her faith in God in her struggles. I cried though most of the book . I couldn't put it down.Halo Found Hope is the true story of an ordinary, happily married woman with 3 children whose life is abruptly changed by a devastating medical diagnosis. Helo Matzelle draws the reader into her journey in a powerfully irresistible way with strong and undisguised emotions.

About the book:

Machines beeping, the blur of medical staff running, a crash cart whizzing into an ICU room---was there any hope?

A young woman lay, packed in ice, as doctors attempted to somehow stop the swelling in her brain that threatened to take her life... and her family waited.

Six days turned into eight weeks. She awoke to discover that she was not the same. She saw two of everything, couldn't feel half of her face, couldn't hear from one ear, and could not speak. She couldn't even tell anyone that she felt hopeless... or could she?

Halo Found Hope is the story of a beautiful, busy wife, and mother of three whose life changes instantly with the diagnosis of a rare brain tumor. An exceptional ENT, a brilliant neurosurgeon and a dedicated medical team tackle the tumor, setting off a series of unbelievable miracles. Helo's story is not one of survival, or of salvaging a life through a broken body. It is not about endurance through pain, but victory because of it. While the family heard her silence, God heard her prayer. Helo's story is simply this: Wherever you are and whatever you are going through, God is right there. He doesn't need to be recognized by you, to be there for you. He can replace fear with courage and discouragement with determination, if you let Him. Helo did, and that is how she foundhope.

Novel

The Boy Who Loved Rain

This is a story about a boy.  keeps having horrific dreams that his sister is drowning and he is unable to save her; which is odd in itself as he doesn't have a sister.  this is a novel that grips you and makes you want to read it!This is a griping novel that even though at times it can be hard to read, you have to read it through to the end. It does not let go.  It made me consider in depth how people might seem normal but ne thinking many things inside of them.  This book was really fro me as it showed me how words do have an affect on people.
Those that do not react verbally or physically might be storing up ones words and something might happen later on. Very well written.

Worth the read if you can borrow from some one.

The Tangled Lives of William Sherman

Fierce Patriot: The Tangled Lives of William Tecumseh Sherman

Being Southern I was very interested in reading the truth about Shermon. I was not disappointed with this book!I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about Sherman beyond the boundaries of the Civil War years. The tone of the book is informal and conversational.  There are some chapters that  were not the best but did I expect a northern general to live a "good" life? Of course not. I enjoyed this read because it showed me why Sherman was  hard hear-ted and always sad.
Sherman was all these things, a mixture of good , but his good was worldly! I selected this because I was interested in learning more about Sherman.

Part 1 gives us an overview of Sherman's life.Part 2 is about his military achievements and Part 3 discusses his personal life in detail. The book is very readable and kept me interested till the end

Well written, factual, and good photos.

Gods plan!

I enjoyed this book but would not recommend reading it unless you can sift out the truths.
This is a review for the print paperback edition.
. This book, which contain ten chapters made up of messages that he has given about spiritual warfare, is mostly based around a close reading of the Sermon on the Mount, with later discussion of the seven woes in the Olivet prophecy and also the seven trumpets  Goes over everything very quickly!  I felt like the author as trying to share his heart but it would have been better to sit down face to face with him.  The cover drew me in and i read this  book quickly. It made me realize Jesus is Lord!  I marked so many places in this book and put notes in it so i could lend it to others and they could pick out the meat and discard the few bones!

We have to learn to take control of our life and our priorities once God has given us direction

excellent book by Steven Lawson

 Published January 31!

Highly recommended! I was blown away by this read. I wrote this a while ago but for some reason just found it in my drafts I really enjoyed this book.I found the cover, size, font and layout of the book appealing and conducive to enjoyable reading and studying.

A breath of fresh air, this book is Biblically-sound, clear, deep and yet easy to read! I think this book would make a good gift for a new Christian friend, and for anyone unused to reading books on doctrine or Christian living which are more than double the size. Additionally, this book would be great for a child to read. And lastly, although this book is addressed to a Christian, I do recommend it for anyone; it would therefore also be a good gift choice for your unsaved acquaintances as well.

It opens ones eyes to appreciate the Bible more! What a well written book! This short book should be a great inspiration to young preachers and missionaries everywhere to not abandon scripture and to continue to preach and teach the hard truths of the Bible
.
