sad Fantasy

Becoming The Chateran

I  found the writing well done, however, I did wish for a shorter book as I could envision the general turn of events by the end of the 5th chapter. For younger readers, though, I believe this book has as much power to engage the reader  but it is to much like “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.” I did not like that there was some unanswered questions at the end though. I did not care for how mythological creatures and Christianity were mixed together. There is some action, but it's not intense. This book is a little too long! Though it was sold to me as a Christian novel, it is not. It's written by a Christian as far as could research her life,  but the content doesn't give a hint. Non Christians would like this book no problem.
About the Author:

Stacia Joy always loved to tell stories and invent fictional lands and characters. She did not consider writing, however, until she was thirteen, when, inspired by a make-believe she was playing with a friend, she wrote the first draft of what become her debut book, Becoming the Chateran. Since then, the story of Becoming the Chateran (Aniko Press, 2013) has expanded into what will become The Chateran Series. Aside from fantasy, Stacia Joy also writes steampunk/science fantasy and science fiction. Occasionally she pens poems about buffalo and dinosaurs.

When not obsessing over writing or art, Stacia Joy spends her free time Irish dancing, attempting archery, playing the piano and folk harp, composing music, and singing at the top of her lungs. She also enjoys helping with children's ministry at her local church, and currently lives in the Madison, Wisconsin area with a kitten named Lord Peter Whimsey.

Not a favorite of mine!* This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Life Sentence Publishing.

  1. Thank you for your review, and thank you for being honest about what you did and didn't like!

As to the unanswered questions, those will be addressed and answered in the rest of The Chateran Series. Also, I am indeed a Christian, but I do not write Christian Fiction per se, and it's been hard keeping the distinction clear when pitching to reviewers and bloggers. I apologize for that.

    Thank you again!
