For Bible study

This is an outstanding Bible resource  I used it daily  and will continue to do so.Bible handbooks are great tools to have on hand to enrich and/or enable study of the Bible. It greatly facilitates locating key information and can be used to generate interest in specific topics. The Candle Bible Handbook is just such a tool and it is geared for the young or new-to-Bible-study individual. I would recommend it as it is full of pictures making  learning fun. it would be a great family devotion book! I used it in my teaching and  my little sister loved it! This really gets one to understand life in Bible times. And who the people are! praises all around.

Thanks  for letting me review the book!.

Extra Virgin

This is a beautiful book!So glad I ordered this book to review despite that we had to cover up some of the  pictures due to immodesty! The front drew me in and so did the inside  with all its  wonderful mouth watering  pictures. This cookbook by Gabriele and Debi brings a bit of Tuscany to your table. it was put to use right away! This cookbook by Gabriele and Debi brings a bit of Tuscany to your table.  First I read it all before deciding on some recipes for mothers day!  I wanted to make every recipe. everyone in the family loved the recipes from  my  7 year old sister to my father and mother.I absolutely love the cookbook. I have tried five recipes so far. For mothers day I made Risotto, Hunters chicken ( with added peppers), and Florentine orange cake( sliced it open and added whipped cream and berries). all recipes got raves and the cake

Must Have Cookbook for any italian fans! The book is beautifully illustrated and I am so excited to start cooking through it. A must have REAL ITALIAN book for your collection! You will use it more than you think. This book will not disappoint, it far exceeded my expectations- except for a few of the pictures. I would get it and block out pictures ( a few) before giving as a gift. Do add to your library! I am really thrilled to see Extra Virgin (Gabriele & Debi) get out a cookbook. I am not disappointed. It is beautifully done, bound and written. I love the pictures. The simple and easy to follow directions.  I could keep on going but  one must have a look for ones self.

"I received this book for free from Blogging for Books for this review."

Synopsis
DEBI MAZAR and GABRIELE CORCOS are ambassadors of contemporary Tuscan cooking. In Extra Virgin, food, family, and style come together in a celebration of the pleasures of the rustic Italian table with 120 recipes for simple yet exquisite meals that are accessible, full of fresh flavor, and easy to prepare. Gabriele is a traditional Italian with a big heart, and Debi is an outgoing, brash New York City girl. Their sassy and playful exchanges illuminate what’s important in everyday life: good food and a lot of love.

Ranging from traditional antipasti and soups to their spin on entrees, pizzas, and desserts, recipes include Pecorino and Honey Dip, a sweet and salty way to start a meal; tangy, luscious Grilled Apricots with Goat Cheese Ricotta, inspired by wild Tuscan apricot trees; and Sausage and Beans, which offers hints of fennel in a Tuscan red sauce. Here, too, are Braised Artichokes softened in guanciale-infused oil, Breakfast Pizza, and Coffee Granita just as Italians make it.

So flag these recipes, get sauce on them, let splashes of olive oil mark the pages—and invite Debi and Gabriele’s charisma and passion for cooking to spill into your kitchen.http://www.randomhouse.com/book/226338/extra-virgin-by-gabriele-corcos-and-debi-mazar#praiserai

An outstanding true story!

An outstanding true story!"Rescue the Captors" details the 142 day ordeal Russell Stendal experienced in a remote area of Colombia, South America in 1983. This is an astonishing story of his kidnapping and ultimate release. In subsequent years other kidnappings in Colombia have impacted the efforts of Gospel ministry throughout the world.Rescue the Captors was a book that was very hard to put down. an honest book so I got some inside  into his life that showed me God uses sinners!Read this in one sitting; writing is average, but easy to follow story line. Good book for a rainy day. I will recommend it to others . would be great for a church library!

Read this then watch the movie and listen to the sound track!" I really enjoyed the book."I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for some insight into life on the mission field as well as an interesting real-life adventure. The book is best but the others are good too. I have passed this on to others so they can learn about serving Christ! This is a very inspiring book.  This is a very inspiring bookcid:image001.jpg@01CF4CCA.91C734D0 Reviewed for this company. About the Author

Russell Stendal was born in Minneapolis and raised on the mission field in Colombia, South America. He became a missionary jungle pilot at age nineteen. Almost ten years later he was kidnapped in 1983 by Marxist rebels and held hostage for five months. His book, Rescue the Captors, relates his experience, including how God worked in the hearts of the rebels.

Russell has written many other books, produced videos, and edited two Bible translations, the Spanish Reina-Valera 2000 and the Jubilee Bible in English.
Russell heads up the work of Colombia Para Cristo which operates 12 radio stations involving over 100 staff and coworkers and covering much of Latin America with the Gospel. A thriving underground church has developed in remote jungle areas of Colombia. New high gain antennas are now beaming the Gospel message deep into areas of deepening crisis across the borders of Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil as well as throughout Colombia.

Not a favorite

A little disappointed  at how much of the book spoke of childhood hurt but not enough about God. The back is a little  miss leading. I liked the fact that there were pictures in the back of the  The author writes

After forty years of searching, I have finally come to peace with my own life.  I now realize that God loves me, and even when I didn’t realize he was there, he was watching over me and leading me.  My message to all children of divorced parents out there is: God loves you.  He is protecting you and watching out for you.  He has a will and purpose for your life. He will show you the way.  No matter how bad things seem right now, keep breathing and keep believing. Even though your earthly mother or father may have let you down, your heavenly Father will not..

There are several things I do not agree with, in the above paragraph written by the above author. A false message is given- God does not love all. For if God did so than many more would be in heaven.

I thought this book would have more ishing stories that would point one to hrist. Yet there were still a few gold nuggets to b found in the book ( I read every page). I liked how he forgave. That is a hard things to do. I jsut wish he had said he had been praying for  his parents. This book was an OK read but I would not recommend it! I am sorry to say another thing disturbed me - how he married his wife even if they wee apposed.

LIFE SENTENCE Publishing.  gave me this book to review. I am thankful as  many of there books I enjoyed.

wow and again wow!

The author writes powerfully yet gently, always pointing the reader to Scripture. She reminds us often that only as we take our eyes off ourselves & gaze on our Savior will we find freedom for our tangled hearts I got this book and could not put it down so was up till i read it all. This will be re read over and over! I never really understood Mary as I ought to. This will be a must read for all my family! all should know why God tells us this women will be remembered. her story is not to be skimmed and can't be with this book!

This book not only teaches the female reader about herself but it also teaches her about other women, because women share a common thread; they are emotional beings.  I encourage  Dolores Kimball  to keep writing  as this is an encouraging book backed by scripture. I look forward to reading more books by her.

Tessa book

You are left not wanting to put the book down. I received it in the mail today to review for an honest opinion. I picked up "Tessa" intending to read a few pages and found that I couldn't put the book down.

Tessa gets caught shoplifting. She is a teenager who is hungry so she doesn’t understand why it’s such a crime to steal something to eat; after all nobody probably would’ve missed what she’d taken if she hadn’t been caught. Tessa’s father is abusing her by making her work in his drug business and physically assaulting her, which leaves her with a lot of other emotional scars. She has two siblings whose whereabouts are unknown, and her mother and father don’t seem to care. I do think this book should be labeled “Young Adult” rather than “general” with the content and age of Tessa.

I loved how during Tessa’s journey people were sent into her life to help her to understand what her father was making her do with working for him in his illegal business was wrong, even though she thought she was in big trouble helping him when she really had no control over it.

The ending was kind of unexpected to me. After I read the last sentence in the book I was kind of thinking there would be more but I discovered it was the end when there was nothing on the following page. It made me kind of hope there will be another book coming so I can see what happens after that, and I hope that there will be.

This is a great book to help people understand that God dislikes our sins but that he offers a way of forgiveness and hope by turning to Jesus, and that people can learn to extend forgiveness for great wrongs that have been done to them through Jesus’ example as well.

I do think this book should be labeled “Young Adult” rather than “general” with the content and age of Tessa.
