Read in a day!

Spoken For

A few days-ago I had a rough day then this book came and changed  my  day. it gave me a fresh look on life.

Robin and Alyssa share experiences from their live and use Biblical references as their answer to handling each occurrence.

After each chapter is a list of questions to work through to deepen the points made in that chapter. Also, there is a list of verses from the Bible What God Says About You.

Spoken For: Embracing Who You Are and Whose You Are is the newest book by Robin Jones Gunn, author of the wonderful Christy Miller series, as well as Sisterchicks and many more. She co-authored the book with the lovely Alyssa Joy Bethke. The story of how these two came to collaborate on the book is itself inspiring as we see how God orchestrated the timing and circumstances to get these important words on paper.

Robin and Alyssa have practically written the handbook for every young woman looking to understand how God feels about them.

How High will you Climb? written by John C.Maxwell (Review)

How High Will You Climb?

I like his kids books best.
“Our attitudes are formed by our experiences and how we choose to react to them. Therefore as long as we live, we are forming, changing or reinforcing attitudes. … our attitude doesn’t remain stagnant” – KL 546 & 571.
Some of the topics covered include:

1. 3 healthy attitudes Jesus had.
2. 7 statements about attitude.
3. 4 thing to remember when things get tough.
4. 3 storms that can destroy a good attitude.
5. Suggestions for preventing criticism from dragging you down.
6. 8 types of choices we make that can determine our attitudes.
7. 4 opportunities that can help you be successful.
8. Christians should not view life as negative.
9. We must decide to take a risk and act on the opportunities we have.
10. Ways God supports and strengthens us when we seek to change our attitude.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” (Philippians 2:5–7, ESV)

This book focuses less on leadership and more on personal attitude. I was pleased by the plentiful inclusion of Biblical references alongside wisdom quotes from other great leaders. Finally, Maxwell includes study guides for each chapter, as well as "Attitude Applications" throughout each chapter.

If you like Maxwell stuff and haven't read The Winning Attitude, you'll like this read.It is a short and easy to digest volume full of good ideas.

My Bedtime Story Bible by Jean E. Syswerda, Illustrated by Daniel Howarth

Book Description

My Bedtime Story Bible focuses not only on biblical characters and stories, but also on the quiet times of those characters before sleep. Parents will enjoy reading My Bedtime Bible Story to their children just before bed. And children will enjoy hearing stories about bible characters and the truths they can learn from them - all in a manner that promotes quiet, settled moments rather than noisy, busy times.
My Bedtime Story Bible is the perfect bedtime book to teach them Bible stories and ward off bad dream. This one hundred and twenty page hardbound targets parents looking for stories taken from the Bible that can be read to young children after they are tucked in bed. I really liked it!Illustrator Daniel Howarth’s designs are expressive and colorful, depicting the characters in usually casual circumstances
.Each story is two pages long, and concludes with a night time prayer simple enough for a child any age. But for parents looking for a true book of bible stories, this is not the best choice as I believe parents looking for actual bible stories will be disappointed. This is for 3-5 year old or younger!A perfect gift.

Read now!

Six DaysIn Six Days, Ken Ham begins with going over the importance of believing in a literal interpretation of Genesis and why having this foundation is important for all aspects of the Christian walk including salvation. This is a wonderful read!

"Six Days, The Age of the Earth and the Decline of the Church" by Ken Ham is a book on how specifically the American church's foundation is being crumbled away because of how people treat the book of Genesis

"Six Days, The Age of the Earth and the Decline of the Church" by Ken Ham is a book on how specifically the American church's foundation is being crumbled away because of how people treat the book of Genesis.  Thoroughly biblical and well documented.

I found it interesting that there are so many people and church leaders included that have tried to find a way around reading the Bible literally. Quite a list of theories has been compiled by those who claim to know what God really did. Ken Ham is amazing. I have been astounded by his works.

After laying out the difference between exegesis and eisegesis, this book delves into several of the differing opinions on the age of the earth, the length of the creation days, evolution in Genesis, and the extent of the global flood.

sad Fantasy

Becoming The Chateran

I  found the writing well done, however, I did wish for a shorter book as I could envision the general turn of events by the end of the 5th chapter. For younger readers, though, I believe this book has as much power to engage the reader  but it is to much like “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.” I did not like that there was some unanswered questions at the end though. I did not care for how mythological creatures and Christianity were mixed together. There is some action, but it's not intense. This book is a little too long! Though it was sold to me as a Christian novel, it is not. It's written by a Christian as far as could research her life,  but the content doesn't give a hint. Non Christians would like this book no problem.
About the Author:

Stacia Joy always loved to tell stories and invent fictional lands and characters. She did not consider writing, however, until she was thirteen, when, inspired by a make-believe she was playing with a friend, she wrote the first draft of what become her debut book, Becoming the Chateran. Since then, the story of Becoming the Chateran (Aniko Press, 2013) has expanded into what will become The Chateran Series. Aside from fantasy, Stacia Joy also writes steampunk/science fantasy and science fiction. Occasionally she pens poems about buffalo and dinosaurs.

When not obsessing over writing or art, Stacia Joy spends her free time Irish dancing, attempting archery, playing the piano and folk harp, composing music, and singing at the top of her lungs. She also enjoys helping with children's ministry at her local church, and currently lives in the Madison, Wisconsin area with a kitten named Lord Peter Whimsey.

Not a favorite of mine!* This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Life Sentence Publishing.

REQUIRED READING!,

The Lie: Evolution/Millions of YearsThe Lie was a great read. Very challenging.  Order it for only $11 at http://www.answersingenesis.org/store/product/lie-25th-anniversary-edition/?sku=10-2-418
This book should be required reading. Though I have always been a believer in Genesis 1:1, this book reinforced those beliefs and gave me information with which I can support my faith. The cover was great! Ham uses real life examples of people that have been affected by the Answers in a Genesis ministry, like students and professionals. Sections of the book also present thoughts about evolution and how those thoughts can lead to other troubles.
Ken Ham once again takes the lead in pointing out the looming precipice that thousands of church leaders are rushing toward; a denial of the full authority and accuracy of the Bible from its very first verse. Originally published in 1987, The Lie took a bold stand which became prophetic. Ken warned the church about the destructive effects of compromise with evolutionary/millions-of-years ideas. He warned that compromise in Genesis would undermine Scriptural authority in the culture and erode confidence in the infallibility of God’s Word. Today, Christians increasingly doubt the Bible’s reliability. So then do those who are considering placing their faith in Jesus, the Creator.
The issues are of critical importance when you realize that today we have Christians not only confused when it comes to Genesis and the age of the earth, but now even the reality of hell, Adam as a real person, and Christ’s own words about creation, marriage, and more. One compromise just leads to another—and it has to end if we want to leave a legacy of faith to future generations!

crash this book

Crash the Chatterbox

This book spoke to me from the first page as I saw myself as  some one God couldn't use due to my endless character flaws. But only a few lines in each chapter.
Page 3 was good  In every season of my life, God has sent reminders to confirm that he has perfectly designed me... He's called me to do.
The quotes before each chapter were good- keepsakes to be penned in my journal and shared with others in letters.
I was drawn to study the authors of the quotes and disappointed - the quotes were deep but not the authors.
some of the book shocked me how he said some do not  know God speaks to them. He was referring to Christians, Can this be true, that his children do not hear or did I miss something. Lastly, Furtick wraps up his work with a reminder that we are more than conquerors in Christ. This does not mean that we can do anything we want to do, but that we can do anything God wants us to do
some of the modern speech turned me off.  I do not think I would purchase this book but if it was 5 dollars maybe yet or rather better borrow it! But while there are some good spots, far too much of the book is simply not so good.
