God can do it!

Untangled: Let God Loosen the Knots of Insecurity in Your Life

This book was pretty good!  Carey Scott writes with such honesty and truth .  . However this book did not fulfill my personal needs;Personally, I found this book hard to get in to. It requires a full attention span and dilligence in reading; something I am sure many Bible scholars have a full store of. I do usually, but sometimes I run into books I just can't quite digest as well. Nevertheless, I read the entire book and thought it was interesting. I simply must re-read it at a different time and concentrate on each chapter more thoroughly.. Instead I read pages after page of people's faults. I didn't see God's love and mercy in the book like I had hoped.
Thank you Revell publishing for giving me a complimentary copy of this book for review.

Once Upon a Summertime

Once Upon a Summertime by Melody Carlson

I liked the book but not the ending so much.First in the Follow Your Heart series, Carlson takes readers to New York City and the exciting world of starting and running a hotel.

The literary quality was poor, the characters hard to relate to and the storyline lacking depth. Not only that, the romance was the most lame I have ever read.  You could ell the ending before it happened! If you like light, cheesy romances, then this is probably a suggested read for you.  Not one I would read again.

Note: I received a copy of this book from Revell’s Blog Tour Program for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the first book by Melody Carlson that I have read.

Risking all in America for Jesus

Hiding in the Light.

This is an amazing true story which took place in America.  It shows one the mindset of a Islamic person wherever he or  she is.This story will build ones faith.   I was impressed by the quality and depth of this book.  I finished this book in one day! I couldn't put it down.Furthermore, I am deeply moved when I read about the strength and depth of the faith of these converts. This one had a new twist since we do not often think of these things happening in our own land.

In her own words she tells you what is was like to be raised in a devout Muslim home in Sri Lanka and then have her whole family move to the United States. Rifqa does an excellent job of describing the emptiness of practicing the Islamic faith and how the lack of hope from this religion can turn a household into warring factions and how abuse, both physical and psychological, in the home can become the norm.

“After four years of hiding my faith from my family, I knew that it was time. I wrote with shaky hands, ‘Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I refuse to deny him….’ There was no turning back now. I had to get out of that house if I wanted to live. Was this worth risking everything for? Yes.”

Rifqa Bary grew up in a devout Muslim home, obediently following her parents’ orders to practice the rituals of Islam. But God was calling her to freedom and love. He was calling her to true faith. He was calling her to give up everything.

You will enjoy!

A faith based guide for helping aging parents

I was well pleased with this read. Based on wisdom and real life  experience,  I was taking care of elderly neighbors when I got this book and by the time I read it they were in a nursing home. I highly recommend this book for all adult children looking after an aging parent.   I also think everyone should read it to know what to do in advance.  Her style is very refreshing!!

do not read

Tried to like this book but the characters, plot and language lacked . Also there were things in this book which should have been left out. This is a historical fiction book but it is more like a historical romance . Many of the facts don;t fit with the times.

As I read this book I struggled through the whole thing, trying to decide if I liked it. I knew I couldn't stop reading it. Wanting to read it everyday to see what was happening. So, why was it I couldn't say definitely that I liked or even loved the book? . \The writing is done very well and I did enjoy the book to a point but, I just couldn't fall in love with it, as I have books in the past. I am still very interested in reading other books from this author. I was in no way turned off by this book, it just wasn't the right fit for me. I encourage you to read it for yourself and make up your own mind.

Saving....

Saving Mossy Point by Donna Winters

Do you all think I have lost my love  for reading? Not so I have just been so busy!

I just finished a pretty  good book!     I have always been an avid reader. Growing up, I loved historical fiction. Now that I am an adult, I still enjoy speed-reading books for a younger audience in the hopes of finding new favorites for my siblings as well as my future children. Although there are many wonderful books for children and young adults which are not particularly Christian (think Little House and such), it is always great to be able to provide books for your children which reinforce Biblical truths and grace  .  Donna did a great job.

I thought the author wrote with wonderful style and skill. It is rare to find a Christian fiction book written in such a classic manner. I believe that is the crowning glory of this book.
