A Grand read

Just read

I tried to like this book. I took the time to read every chapter in it but I found that I was drowning in it.  I read it again just to see if I could take notes and I was disappointed. Instead of teaching me new things it made me wonder at many parts. This book was to modern for me. I did not like some of the questions  What enables some to survive as Christians when so many others have faltered? This left one hanging instead of telling answers. instead of showing that the person who left was not saved it lead one to believe the person was just back sliding.A Christian Survival Guide | Ed Cyzewski :: Freelance Writer. (Still figuring out the image settings on my site. Here's hoping this image is a bit bigger than the others.)

But on the other hand I could appreciate some things about the book . There are good topics to make you think. I guess it is just me who found the topics were not down to earth enough.   Major topics in the Christian beliefs section include the reliability of the Bible, evil, hell, and the role of doubt, while the practices section is equally deep, with chapters on sin, the role of money, evangelizing, and the Holy Spirit.  See for your self why you may not want to purchase .http://www.barnesandnoble.com/sample/read/9780825443312  May be his other books are better.

I also loved how they show you what to do with left over pulp!

Carrot Bread
As you will notice once you start getting your juice on, juicing means pulp. A lot of pulp can build up when you extract the juice from your produce. The amount depends on the type of juicer you have, how much produce you are using, and how many times you run it through the machine. When you’re finished juicing, don’t just toss all that yummy pulp! It is full of nutrition and fiber, and it can be incorporated into some delicious recipes, like this wonderful carrot bread.
Makes 6 to 8 servings (about 9 pieces)
11⁄2 cups carrot pulp
4 organic eggs
1⁄4 cup melted organic butter or ghee (clarified butter)
1 cup coconut flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1⁄2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
Juice of 1⁄2 small lemon
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1⁄2 cup walnuts (optional)
2 tablespoons raisins (optional)
Preheat the oven to 325˚F and place a tray of water in the bottom of the oven. Line an 8 by 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving a generous trim.
In a mixing bowl, stir together the carrot pulp, eggs, butter, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg and set aside.
In a small bowl, stir together the lemon juice, vinegar, vanilla, and maple syrup. Add this to the carrot mixture and stir until well combined. Stir in the walnuts and raisins.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, 50 to 70 minutes.
Allow the bread to cool in the baking dish for about 10 minutes. Remove the bread from the dish and let it cool on a wire rack. Slice and serve warm or at room temp-erature. The bread will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Douglas Bond writes a Fantastic Book!

This book was wonderful!  This is a short book (163 pages), but well worth the read.  I have only read a little of his author  Historical stories, but my siblings love his writing. I was not disappointed with it either! This book brought all glory to God and made me read and contemplate the hymns he wrote in a different light. The History behind this hymn writer is awesome, the author really did some good research!! I highly suggest you read this book today!  I hope to ency other books in this series of  A long line of Godly men and to read all this author has to offer!!

We all know and love ‘Joy to the World,’ ‘Jesus Shall Reign,’ ‘Alas and Did My Savior Bleed,’ ‘When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,’ ‘O God, Our Help in Ages Past but how many of you have ever wondered why these hymns were written. You will learn what  moved the writer! Go to http://www.ligonier.org/store/the-poetic-wonder-of-isaac-watts-hardcover/ to order and to read a free chapter today! Some say this book is dry but I did not find it so but well worth my time!  This is a very well written biography on the hymn writers life.  Order today! A very Inspiring read!

I read this on line  but I will be getting a copy of this book from   Ligonier Ministries. Please note: Reformation Trust / Ligonier Ministries has provided me with an electronic version of this book for review purposes, and will be providing me with a hard copy edition in exchange for this review. Good bye to this book!

Big bright bold pictures to captivate young readers. I would highly recommend such a story if it did not play with the Bible.  It takes the Biblical account of Noah and the ark and changes it completely! It shows kids that God is not a God of order and that the Bible has no value!"Goodnight, Ark" is a relatively short book, and each page only has a few sentences on it, detailing the animals' antics on Noah's ark.

I would say young children would like the pictures because i thought the artist did a great job - especially with her boars! In this story Noah has to put the animals to bed in a funny way. Nothing in this story is right,  animals have free roam of Ark, Noah has on the wrong clothing- yellow overalls and his bed is wrong. If this had been a story about a farmer or a Zoo keeper fine but I don't like playing with the Bible!

I did like the artists drawings so will be looking up some of her other work. Her pictures in their bright form are perfect for young kids! This book is not worth the money!

Victory!

Victory Through The Lamb by Mark Wilson

Victory Through the Lamb by Mark Wilson

I was well pleased with the book that I could not put it down although I did not  care for how the author quoted Revelations in his own words! In fact I hardly slept the first few nights upon receiving this book. Now I am about to use this volume to do a study on the book of Revelations. This would make a great gift for seminary students, graduates or any one on your birthday or Christmas list! It is an easy to read book packed full of truths that all can enjoy!

The book introduces Christians to the book of Revelation through a thematic study of one of its key themes: victory. Running counter to Revelation’s prevailing interpretation, it proposes that Christians, represented by the audience in the Seven Churches, have been in tribulation since the first century and that Revelation was written to help Christians be victorious over the challenges of life. Each chapter opens with an account of martyrdom. The final account tells the story of the three believers in Malatya, Turkey, who were brutally killed in 2007. The book is dedicated to the three. The volume also features a new translation of Revelation by the author, a scholar who has worked on Revelation for over two decades and who lives in the land of the Seven Churches—Turkey.

This  is a must read for all trying to understand revelations in a light which is as close to scriptures as one can get!  I so enjoyed the Greek words with meaning scattered  through out the pages. it is good to know the author knows something of the original text. I enjoyed how he  had short notes about martyrs in each chapter. A very clearly written book with much knowledge in it. Worth your money.  I found that the authors deep  understanding, of  the geography of western Anatolia along with maps brought out all his personal experience from having lived a number of years in the beautiful modern day Turkey.  Also  it made the book very rich.   Do order from Amazon when it is for sale!

Cute fall board book!

My Happy Pumpkin: God's Love Shining Through Me is written by Crystal Bowman and illustrated by Claudine Gevry. It is a colorful board book in a fun pumpkin shape! This rhyming book  is great for ages 2-4 as it keeps their attention as they hunt for the cute mouse on each page!

The illustrations are bright and well drawn. There is a pumpkin carving in this story to lead to a gospel message. i was delighted that they used a pumpkin face for Christ instead of showing Halloween!
This book takes the art of carving a pumpkin and compares it to how our Heavenly Father scoops all the yucky, nasty sin out of our lives to rid us of all of that and make us a new creature in Him.

I will be passing on this  book to my friends 1 year old this month on his first birthday! Cant wait to hear how he and his  older sister enjoyed it!

What is a family!

I received a copy of this book from Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for my honest review.

This is a Focus On The Family! The Family Project,by by Glenn T. Stanton and Leon C. Wirth .  I found this book would be good for people who were young Christians who did not understand the family.

This book goes chapter by chapter explains from the garden of Eden what a family is and the different roles the male and female have. There is content in in not good  for younger ones! I was very grateful to the authors for pointing out the links to the art showed some undressed paintings thus I avoided the links to be on the safe side. No surprises!

This is a new book which just came out last month! The world is watching how we live as families, more than just what we say about faith. We must show how God’s design for families is the key to understanding significance, belonging and, ultimately, eternity with Him. The Family Project is the perfect way to do that.
